Hypnosis has been used for over two hundred years to treat a wide range of physical, psychological and emotional disorders. It is actually a natural state that we all enter in and out of several times a day without even noticing. Day dreaming is a good example of this, or the deeply relaxed state that we experience when watching television, or drifting off to sleep.
Hypnosis creates a deeply relaxed state in which mental stress and bodily tension are reduced. In this relaxed state, the mind is usually more open to the process of change. Integrating hypnosis with appropriate psychotherapeutic approaches can help to bring about positive changes.
While in hypnosis, you are generally still aware of your surroundings and can choose to come out of hypnosis at any time. At the end of the session, you will be gently returned to the normal waking state. Most new clients are surprised at how far away the reality of hypnotherapy is from any prior expectation of 'mind control', and find the experience deeply relaxing. At all times, YOU are in control.
